The short version
Your location is used only on your own device to calculate the Qibla direction. We do not run accounts, we do not store your location on any server, and we do not sell personal data. Advertising on this site is provided by Google AdSense, which uses cookies as described below.
Location
When you tap Find Qibla Direction, your browser asks for permission to share your location. If you agree, the coordinates are used by code running in your browser to calculate the direction and distance to the Kaaba. They are not sent to us. Your most recent location is saved in your browser’s local storage so the result appears immediately on your next visit. You can remove it by clearing this site’s data in your browser settings.
Compass and motion sensors
With your permission, the page reads your device’s orientation to rotate the compass. This data is used live on your device and is never recorded or transmitted.
Data stored on your device
We use your browser’s local storage to remember your settings (theme, display mode, vibration and sound) and your last location, and a service worker cache so the site works offline. This information stays on your device.
City search and maps
If you search for a city that is not in our built-in list, your search text is sent to the Open-Meteo geocoding service to find matching places. When a map is shown, map images are loaded from OpenStreetMap servers. Like any website, these services receive your IP address as part of the request. Their own privacy policies apply.
Advertising and cookies
We use Google AdSense to show ads. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this and other sites.
You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google’s My Ad Center and learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies at aboutads.info.
Visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland
Where required by law, a consent message is shown before personalised ads or advertising cookies are used, and you can change your choice at any time. If you decline, you may still see non-personalised ads.
Children
Al Qibla Finder is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
